FARIDA HUGHES is a nationally recognized artist working in mixed media, oil and resin paint on panel. Her work is included in several private and corporate collections, including Target, United Health Group, and Chesapeake Capital. Hughes has a BA degree in Studio Art and English from Fordham University in New York, and an MFA in Painting from the University of Chicago. She exhibits her work nationally in solo and group exhibitions in commercial gallery, museum, university and non-profit spaces. She has been commissioned for artwork for Marriot and Hilton Hotels, and many other hospitality, corporate or public spaces as well as for private residences. Hughes is a 2013 recipient of an Artists’ Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. She is a member of the Women’s Art Resources of Minnesota through which she has served as an artist Mentor. She currently donates her time as an artist mentor for Free Arts Minnesota. She resides in St. Paul, Minnesota and maintains a studio in the California Building in NE Minneapolis.
